best college major for law school?

I've heard that your college major doesn't matter too much for law school admission. Is this true or is there a major they really like?

True, but if you have an easier major like political science, you had better damn well have a high GPA.

If you want to practice intellectual property law, you had better have a science degree.

It doesn't really matter except for the reasons habeas85 pointed out.

I suggest doing something that will be useful for you. I am an accounting major and have a minor in marketing. These majors have given me skills that will be very useful when I open up my own law firm, which is a long-term goal of mine. And say I change my mind about wanting practice law for my whole life, I have alternative career paths to fall back on.

Too many people don't major in political science, prelaw, criminal justice, etc. for the sole purpose of attending law school. But newsflash: according to my research these majors do little to prepare you for law school... so why waste your time?
