Default t1 vs t2/3/4

Recommend this post:
how do you compare the difference between the different t's?

what is the real difference between a t1 and a t4 besides the career opportunities after graduation?

how does transferring from a t4 to a t1 look in admission's eyes?

I'd say you definitely want to go to the best law school you can get into... at least in the top 100 law schools.

There is no real difference in education as in subjects learned or covered, law school is law school. You're right, the main difference is prestige which affects career opportunities.

Prestige, although T14 schools will basically get you in to almost anywhere you want to go no matter what your class ranking is. Other schools in the top 100 are not so helpful. You are going to still need to be near the top of you class in those other schools to get a really top notch opportunity after school.

Are we talking T1 as in top 1 school? vs the top 4 schools? Or are we talking Tier 1 schools vs Tier 2 schools vs Tier 3 schools vs Tier 4 schools? There is a big difference, but this is what confuses me when people start saying T1, T2, T3, T4, T14, etc.

Definitely, you can have more opportunities when you come from more prestigious schools.

I am all about the scholarships. I will go to the best school that gives me the largest scholarship, I don't care if it is tier 1 or regional.

How does this whole Tier thing work any way? At first I thought Tier 1 schools were only those ranked from 1-14; but the US News site has everything up to rank 100 as a Tier 1. How do I interpret this correctly?

Most people make the distinctions: between schools in the top 1-14 and everyone else, and also between schools in the top 100 and everyone else.

At least aim to go to a law school in the top 100...
